«What I like most about teaching are the connections that students make with their peers as well as myself.»

I am Teacher Sarah Folio and will be accompanying you on your English journey with The Way Experience. You can consider me as your guide, if you will, as I am here to make English as engaging and as adventurous as possible.

A little bit about me

I am from a small town in the United States called Clarksburg, West Virginia. I recommend googling West Virginia or the song Country Roads by John Denver so you can get an idea.

My favorite thing about West Virginia is a quote that was once said by John F. Kennedy:

“The sun doesn’t always shine in West Virginia but the people always do.”

Moving to Spain

Since moving to Murcia back in 2015 I have always tried to carry this shine in every aspect of my life, especially with my students. However, having moved to one of the sunniest cities on Earth I now realize I have double the shine to offer!

During my time in Murcia, I have been teaching English to Spanish and Chinese students. My experience in teaching has reached well over 1,000 students including camps, classrooms, private classes, and digital learning. My students range anywhere from five years of age to adults in their sixties. I must admit there has never been a student I haven’t liked, as learning can happen at any time and at any age.

What I like most about teaching are the connections that students make with their peers as well as myself. I like to think I have helped them reach their goals of mastering one or all aspects of the English language which in turn open a floodgate of opportunities in their life; whether that be a job, new school, or new friendships.

In addition to making connections, I also get a thrill out of being able to work in small groups as it builds a sense of community for students and allows them that comfortable space to find their voice and lose that “vergüenza” I am always hearing about.

There is plenty more I could say but I think it’s better we meet and learn more about each other in our speaking session. I look forward to meeting all of you and helping you achieve your goals.
